Ottawa County, Michigan Court Records

Criminal Records Access in Ottawa County
Individuals will not find state-level criminal history records at the Ottawa County Courts. The Michigan State Police is the custodian of such records, and searches can be made by name or fingerprints. All Ottawa County criminal cases begin in the 58th District Court, and its records are available to the public. However, felony cases are transferred to the 20th Circuit Court. Users must know that confidential probate records are not available via the portal. These include records involving mental health treatment, guardianship of minors, and wills deposited for safekeeping. Such confidential probate records are available only in person at the Ottawa County Probate Court and are released exclusively to case parties, their legal representatives, or relevant government agencies.

Ottawa County Family Court Records

Some family court documents (such as adoption records) are not available to the public because of their personal nature. In contrast, others (such as divorce records) may be released upon request.

Federal Court Records in Ottawa County
The United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan hears all Ottawa County federal civil and criminal cases.
